Outsourcing Conference 2018: Perception Versus Reality

Last year Compeer discovered that a loss of control and data security concerns were the most common worries for wealth management firms when considering the use of outsourcing. In fact, the view that outsourcing comes with greater risks is highlighted in all of the top five concerns relating to the topic.

Compeer will this year ascertain how founded these concerns really are. Through peer-group interviews and analysis of our extensive database on the UK wealth management industry, we will examine the risks and benefits of outsourcing and provide the answers to the following;

Julia Jackson – Wedlake Bell

Julia is an expert in UK Immigration and Nationality Law having practised in this field for more than two decades.

She has a particular expertise in the Points Based Immigration System including Investors, Entrepreneurs and Sponsored Workers.  Julia assists UK businesses, multinational corporations, inward investors, executives and private individuals to successfully secure and manage UK immigration status.

In addition, Julia provides strategic advice for corporations to ensure effective immigration strategies are in place for employees as well as advising on planning and monitoring of compliance issues and record keeping.

Richard Isham – Wedlake Bell

Richard specialises in UK and cross-border employment, data protection, whistleblowing, confidential information, UK Bribery Act and FCPA advice for UK and, mainly, US businesses. He also advises on the people issues that arise under TUPE when businesses: (i) outsource particular functions; (ii) change a provider of outsourced services (secondary outsourcing) and (iii) bring a formally outsourced service back “in house” (in-sourcing).

Rosalyn Breedy – Wedlake Bell

Rosalyn is a Corporate, Funds and Financial Services practitioner with inhouse and private practice experience. Her core clients are family businesses, family offices, private wealth  and alternative investment fund managers, trustees, private capital investors, and entrepreneurs (particularly private equity, hedge fund principals, fintech businesses) .

In addition to providing strategic advice Rosalyn establishes private funds, advises family offices , private wealth and fund management businesses and acts on a range of private equity and joint venture deals.

Rosalyn also provides financial services regulatory and commercial advice, with a particular interest in the development of new products and business models focussed on technology. She has a keen interest in financial regulation and policy work and writes and speaks regularly on these matters.

Rosalyn is recommended as a Top Five Corporate Lawyer in Spear’s 500 from inception in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

Rosalyn has written over 50 articles for a range of private wealth publications and has presented seminars for family office conferences, accountants, wealth managers, alternative investment fund managers and fiduciary services. She has spoken in London, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Jersey, Montreux, Geneva, Monaco, Vancouver and Cape Town.

Patrick Reim – Compeer

Patrick joined Compeer in February 2018. He graduated from university in 2017 with a BA in economics. While at university, and for some time after, Patrick worked for a fintech company specialising in unlisted equity data provision. His time in this position consisted of researching and defining criteria upon which unlisted companies, and the funders that invest in them, could be judged. He is currently the lead analyst in Compeer’s Front Office research project, as well as taking the leading role in the production of Compeer’s annual Industry Report.
