For this year’s Outsourcing event, Compeer will be focusing on technology spend in the wealth management industry and evaluating the role technology outsourcing has in driving efficiency and innovation.

Through peer-group interviews and analysis of our extensive database on the UK wealth management industry, we will look to identify where the best value is in technology outsourcing and outline the impact it has on reducing costs, improving business processes and enhancing client engagement.

Bruce Weatherill – Non Executive Director, Compeer

Bruce is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years’ financial services industry experience around the world. He was a partner in PwC for 20 years and is now a non-executive director of Compeer as well as other companies.

Tom Thwaites – Research Analyst, Compeer

Tom joined Compeer in January 2019 having graduated from the University of Leicester with a BSc in Financial Economics. During his time at university Tom attended Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium as part of the Erasmus program where he furthered his studies into economics, finance, business management and econometrics. He also gained work experience in Beijing on a summer internship for a Chinese consulting firm which specialises on the Belt and Road initiative.

Now, as a member of the Compeer analyst team Tom works on a variety of bespoke research projects looking into different aspects of the Wealth Management industry, presenting the findings at Compeer conferences as well as supporting the team with the annual industry report and benchmarking services.

Søren F. Mortensen – Global Director, Financial Markets, IBM

Søren brings over 25 years of Financial Markets experience in delivering mission critical transformational projects for financial institutions.

His responsibilities include complex transformations of financial institutions, Innovation in Financial Markets leveraging new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum & Blockchain, and post-trade initiatives around reference data management, collateral management and OTC-derivatives processing.

Prior to re-joining IBM in 2013 Soren was Managing Director for SunGard Global Services in Europe developing and delivering service solutions around SunGard products working with several tier 1 European clients.

Having previously worked at financial organisations such as Morgan Stanley, Paribas Capital Market and HBOS Treasury, he brings a practitioner’s view to the challenges faced by customers today.

Søren has, since January 2017, been an advisor to the Consultative Working Group of ESMA’s Financial Innovation Standing Committee (FISC) advising European Regulators on Technology & Innovation, he is also on the advisory board of the EDM-Council and on the Blockchain Advisory Board of Fintech Connect.

Rosalyn Breedy – Partner, Wedlake Bell LLP

Rosalyn articled and qualified as a solicitor (in 1993) into the Corporate department at Slaughter and May (1991 to 1995) and joined the London office of Pinsent Curtis (1995 to 1996).

She was hired by UBS Warburg (1996 to 2002) as a lawyer member of a multi-disciplinary change management team concentrating on cross border legal and regulatory issues arising from use of technology. Rosalyn was a non–executive director of the Internet Law and Policy Forum.

She then served as European COO corporate finance supporting the heads of the global investment bank before being appointed as general counsel to multi-family office Sand Aire (2002 to 2008).

Rosalyn made the transition back to private practice firstly, as of Counsel to the Funds, Investments, Tax and trusts group Withers (2008 to 2009), secondly, in founding a successful niche firm, Breedy Henderson LLP (2009 to 2013) before being appointed as a partner at Forsters LLP (2013 -2015).

Rosalyn joined Wedlake Bell as a partner in its Corporate and Financial Services practice in 2015.

Richard Isham – Partner, Head of Employment, Wedlake Bell LLP

Richard graduated from the University of Exeter with a Law degree (LLB Honours). He qualified as a solicitor in 1986 before joining Wedlake Bell in 1988. He became a partner in April 1996 and set up the firm’s employment team in 1997. He is now responsible for the firm’s international alliances, is the current President of our European alliance, TELFA and sits as a non-executive director on the Board of USLAW Network Inc. He is a member of the ELA. Prior to joining Wedlake Bell, Richard qualified as a legal aid lawyer and then worked in New York city for a year.

Richard is the Chairman of a charitable trust that has property, art works and a farming business; he also does voluntary work for the charity Respond helping young adults who have been in contact with the criminal justice system.

Adam Betts – Senior Associate, Wedlake Bell LLP

Adam graduated from King’s College London with a degree in Chemistry. He also obtained a PgDL from the BPP Law School. Before commencing his legal career, Adam had experience working in the science, financial services and publishing industries.

Adam trained with Wedlake Bell and qualified as a solicitor in September 2008.

He has spent time on secondment to the Intellectual Property and Commercial team of a global premium drinks company.

David Joyce – CEO UK, CREALOGIX

David’s career spans more than 30 years in financial services and international payments. An experienced business leader in both large corporations and new fintechs, he has held senior leadership positions with Visa Europe, sitting on the Corporate Management Group, Risk Advisory Board and was Chair of the European Processing Advisory Board. Subsequently he worked with fintech companies including Ixaris Technologies where he was GM/ COO, Monitise (now Finkit), MPayMe, and as COO at Paythru.

As CEO of CREALOGIX in the UK, David drives our vision of product innovation and champions the closely collaborative delivery approach which has been valued by leading brands in wealth management and private banking here in the UK for over two decades.

Henry Duncombe – Managing Director, Lanware

Henry is the Managing Director of Lanware, a leading IT outsourcing partner and cloud provider to the mid-market Financial Services sector.

Henry’s experience stretches over 20 years’ starting as an IT Engineer at Rolls-Royce Aerospace, through to working on major EDS outsourcing accounts for clients including the DWP and Amlin. Henry joined Lanware in 2004 and has been the driving force behind the company’s vision and success as a trusted partner and cloud provider to the boutique fund management sector. Lanware’s clients include many of London’s leading independent asset management firms as well as hedge funds, wealth managers and Lloyd’s of London insurers.

Henry believes that Industry experience is key when choosing a critical outsourced IT partner, as successful partnerships are more easily formed when the provider understands your business and can tailor the services accordingly. This combined with the ability to provide pro-active and industry specific technology advice has enabled Lanware to hold trusted relationships with their clients for over a decade.

Henry’s particular interest is the transformation to a digital economy and the opportunities and risks which lie ahead as Financial Services prepares itself for major disruption seen in other sectors.

Mark Prior – Head of IT, Smith & Williamson

Mark is a Partner and Head of IT at Smith and Williamson responsible for Technology.  Mark has set and delivered IT strategies in investment banking and asset and wealth management, having previously worked at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, Flemings and JP Morgan. Mark has been with Smith and Williamson since 2015.
